emergency medical servicesEmergency Medical Services (EMS) is a function of the Fire Services Division. 70% of our 911 calls are medical related. Rapid response to specific medical emergencies improves survivability and decreases pain and suffering for those who have injuries or illness.

Longmont Fire Services applies an innovative approach to emergency medicine using a unique public/private cooperative agreement designed to provide rapid, consistent and professional Emergency Medical Services to our community.  Together with American Medical Response (AMR), Longmont fire provides staffing 24/7 for four full-time ambulances and three reserve ambulances.  In addition to having continuous and consistent ambulance support for the city, all ambulance crew members live with, work and train together with fire personnel to provide fast response to specific medical emergencies.

You are well covered in Longmont. Our daily staffing employs 31 staff members trained as EMT’s with a minimum of 8 of those being Paramedics throughout the city.  Longmont EMS is overseen by our Medical Director in conjunction with an EMS Captain and combined Quality Assurance that includes management staff from AMR, Longmont United Hospital and Longs Peak Hospital.
