New Cooling Features – at Three City Parks – Celebrated at Lanyon Park
Several new cooling features, added to three City of Longmont parks, will be celebrated at Lanyon Park (1900 Collyer St.) on Saturday, September 12 from 11 am to noon. The celebration will highlight a new water misting feature at Lanyon Park and will include ribbon cutting and brief remarks from City officials and staff, light snacks, games and a crafting activity for kids.
The new cooling features include:
- New shaded seating at Kensington and Spangler Parks
- Improved amphitheater-style community gathering spaces at Kensington and Lanyon Parks
- Cooling mist feature at Lanyon Park
- Updated swing set at Kensington Park

“We’re excited to share the results of this first phase of improvements this season,” said City of Longmont Sr. Project Manager Tatiana Parfenova. “The second phase, a splash pad at Kensington Park, will begin construction next month. This project is a great example of City departments (including Parks, Sustainability, and Community and Neighborhood Resources) working together efficiently on a shared goal. The project represents an important investment in creating cooler, more comfortable, and welcoming public spaces for our community.”
