Pace Street Asphalt Work Scheduled Oct. 12-16

A street with trees and grass on each side of the road. To the left is a fence with houses behind and the right side of the road shows a field behind a chain link fence.

Asphalt rehabilitation on Pace Street will begin Monday, Oct. 12, with crews removing the top layer of existing pavement to prepare the road for new asphalt. Work will take place from just south of 9th Avenue to just north of Mountain View Avenue and is expected to take approximately one week.

Pace Street Will Remain Open

Pace Street will remain open to traffic in both directions throughout the work. Traffic will be shifted to one side of the roadway and then the other as crews work on both the east and west side of Pace Street. Motorists should expect longer delays than usual and are encouraged to use alternate routes, such as Alpine Drive or Deerwood Drive, when possible.

Flaggers will be stationed at signalized intersections while crews are working nearby. Traffic may occasionally be stopped for approximately 5 to 10 minutes to allow milling equipment to move through an intersection.

Drivers traveling on Pace Street should allow extra time, follow posted signs and use caution around crews and equipment. Motorists should also be prepared for uneven or grooved pavement in areas where the top layer of asphalt has been removed.

What Comes Next

After milling, crews will patch the asphalt before repaving Pace Street. Paving between 9th Avenue and Mountain View Avenue is expected to begin the week of Oct. 19.

Motorists should plan ahead for significant traffic impacts for approximately two to three days during paving operations. Temporary closures at the 9th Avenue and Mountain View Avenue intersections will be required as crews pave through those areas. Drivers who do not need local access are strongly encouraged to avoid Pace Street and use alternate routes. Additional information about the paving schedule, intersection closures and traffic impacts will be provided before paving begins.

This roadway rehabilitation is part of the larger Pace Street Improvements Project between 9th and 17th avenues, which includes roadway widening, buffered bike lanes, pedestrian crossing improvements and drainage upgrades.

Please note that construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change.
