Quiet Zones Construction Notice: 17th Avenue Railroad Crossing
One Day Westbound Lane Closure on July 2
On Wednesday, July 2, both westbound lanes of 17th Avenue will be closed from Lashley Street to Meadow Street. This will be similar to the full closure that happened at the start of the project in May. Wet weather conditions may cause a delay to this closure; please follow posted road signs.
Later in July, there will be a full closure of the eastbound lanes on 17th Avenue to complete the safety improvements at this railroad crossing for the Quiet Zones project. A Quiet Zone is a section of railroad where trains do not routinely sound their horns at road crossings. For more information, visit the Quiet Zones in Longmont webpage.
On Wednesday, July 2:
- Commuters traveling westbound on 17th Avenue will need to detour at Lashley Street to Mountain View Avenue.
- Residents on the south side of 17th Avenue east of the railroad tracks can access properties from eastbound 17th Avenue. Westbound access will be from Lashley Street to Gardner Drive to Lamplighter Drive and then eastbound on 17th Avenue.
- Residents on the north side of 17th Avenue east of the railroad track will need to use Lashley Street to Antero Drive or Shavano Street.
Regular construction hours are Monday – Friday from 7 am – 5 pm. Some work may occur until 7 pm and also on Saturdays and Sundays, as necessary. Detour signs will direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic to alternate routes, as needed. Check the project group 1 webpage for the latest information.
