Holiday schedules for City facilities

All City facilities will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1 in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday, except for Recreation’s New Year’s Day Zumba® Dance Party from 1-2:30 pm. The Longmont Library will also be closed on Sunday, Dec. 31. Trash collection services will be picked up one day LATER than normally scheduled this week. Please have containers out before 7 am. Holiday Recycling Guide

Did you know Americans create 23 percent more trash during the holidays? But we don’t have to! Eco-Cycle’s Holiday Recycling Guide offers the Longmont community a handy resource that outlines which holiday items are locally recyclable, and where to recycle them, plus it provides a list of special tree collection and recycling sites. Itty Bitty City: Friday Preschool Fun

Itty Bitty City returns on Fridays from 9-11 am from Friday, Jan. 5 through early May at the St. Vrain Memorial Building, 700 Longs Peak Ave. Snow or shine, our toys are divine! Kids ages 6 months to 5 years have lots of room to run and play in the gym. Parents must supervise their children. Please, no older children. Cost is $4 per child or $34 for a 10-visit pass, which can be purchased online at https://rec.ci.longmont.co.us. No registration is needed for this drop-in program. Questions? Call 303-651-8404.

Winter Walkabout Music Showcase

The annual Winter Walkabout Music Showcase (WWMS) will take place throughout downtown Longmont from 2-9:30 pm on Saturday, Feb. 3. The WWMS consists of more than 50 music performances throughout 15 indoor venues – all within walking distance of each other in downtown Longmont. Longmont Recreation Center Open House

On Sunday, Jan. 7, the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road, will host a free open house from 1-5 pm. Visitors of all ages are invited to explore the Recreation Center. Guests can swim, play gym sports, jog, use the weight room or sauna, and participate in a fitness class. Visit longmontcolorado.gov/rec or call 303-774-4800.

Visit “agriCULTURE” exhibit before its gone!

The Longmont Museum is a great place to bring your family and out-of-town guests! The current “agriCULTURE: Art Inspired by the Land,” exhibit draws on the expertise of farmers and the inspiration of nature. Experience large-scale sculptures, ceramics, photo weaving and other art forms that explore how farming is connected to issues such as environmental impacts, ancestral lands and local history. Free LEGO exhibit prototyping event

The Longmont Museum is trying out some fun activities for their upcoming summer exhibit, “Build: Design and Create with Lego,” and they need your help! Groups of all ages are invited to attend a FREE program Thursday, Jan. 4 to be the first to explore activities that may be in the new exhibit and help improve them for the show. Winter Nature Fridays at Sandstone

Families will enjoy an indoor activity and outdoor exploration (weather permitting) from 9 am-12 pm select Fridays this winter at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive. Upcoming dates are Jan. 5, Feb. 16, and Mar. 22. All ages welcome! Fee is $5 per child each session with free entry for guardian.
