Holiday schedules for City facilities
Most City facilities will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Trash, recycling and compost will be collected one day later throughout the week. Some recreation facilities including Sunset Pool, the Recreation Center and Union Reservoir will be open. Coffee with Council: June 24
Longmont City Council will host an in-person Coffee with Council from 9-10 am on Saturday, June 24, at Longmont Fire Station #3, 1000 Pace St. At this event, you can talk informally with Mayor Pro-Tem Aren Rodriguez and Council Member Shiquita Yarbrough on any topic of your choice. Bike to Work breakfast stations: June 28
Put some joy back into your commute! Ditch your vehicle, grab your bike, and stop by bike-to-work stations for free food and other goodies. The annual event encourages bicycle commuting to improve air quality, reduce traffic congestion, and strengthen community. For Bike to Work Day on Wednesday, June 28, the City of Longmont will be hosting two breakfast stations: Civic Center, 350 Kimbark St., and Service Center, 1100 S. Sherman St. Pledge to ride and find a full list of registered stations at the Bike to Work Day website.
Middle School Night at Sunset Pool
Geared for all middle-schoolers and soon-to-be freshmen! Enjoy a fun evening from 7:30-9:30 pm on Thursday, June 29 at Sunset Pool, 1900 Longs Peak Ave. Preregister by calling 303-774-4700 so you don’t have to wait in line. Everyone who is preregistered ($5.50) can enter at 7:15 pm and be in the water at 7:30 pm. A drop-in payment option is available at the window, and guests must show proof of age or a current student ID. Recreation passes or previous daily admission receipts are not valid. Questions? Longmont Pride Festival: June 30
Join the community celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride from 4-8 pm on Friday, June 30, at Roosevelt Park, 700 Longs Peak Ave. The fun will include activities, interactive games for the whole family, jewelry from talented artists, information from community partners, Pride goodies from Out Boulder County, plus food and other fantastic vendors! Kids’ film & free outdoor concert at Museum
Visit the Longmont Museum this summer for kid’s movies and free outdoor concerts. This Tuesday, June 27, “Lilo & Stitch” (2002, PG) will show on the Stewart Auditorium’s big screen at 10 am at the Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road. Admission is $3/child. This Thursday, June 29, Dear Marsha will rock a free show in the Museum’s outdoor grassy courtyard from 7 to 8:30 pm. This show is co-presented with Out Boulder in celebration of Longmont Pride. Lawn chairs, blankets and picnics welcome. Alcohol and concessions available for sale (only alcohol purchased on site is allowed). Irrigation equipment rebates
Through our partnership with Efficiency Works, the City of Longmont offers various efficient irrigation equipment rebates, including weather-based controllers, drip conversion equipment, rotary nozzles, spigot timers and rain sensors. Learn more at the Water Rebates webpage or call 303-651-8416.
Summer electric rates underway
Longmont Power & Communications has begun its annual summer electric rates, which help cover the added cost of electrical generation in the warmer months (when electric demand is highest) and also encourage energy efficiency. These rates, which remain among the lowest in Colorado, will continue through the end of September. Find ways to save energy in your home this summer with simple home devices from the Efficiency Works. Residents who need assistance can also find information on income-qualified utility rebates through the Longmont CAReS program at the Longmont CAReS webpage.
Golf this summer; sign up for lessons
Take advantage of Golf Longmont’s three great public golf courses – Sunset, Twin Peaks and Ute Creek — for a distinctive golf experience with spectacular views. In addition, each location offers facility rentals, group and individual golf instruction and the opportunity to join associations and leagues. Twin Peaks’ Monday First Step (beginning June 12) and Tuesday Next Step Junior Golf drop-in golf camps for youth are ongoing through Aug. 15. Visit Golf Longmont for information.
Free Fitness in the Park
Enjoy a 9 am morning workout in the fresh air! Join Recreation fitness instructors for free outdoor fitness classes this summer. Free Friday classes at various parks from June 2 through Aug. 11 include Zumba, Boot Camp, Barre, Pilyoga and Tai Chi. Every 1st and 3rd Saturday June – August, Pilyoga is offered at Lanyon Park, 1900 Collyer St. For ages 14 years and older; no childcare is available. View the summer schedule at the Fitness webpage.
