Holiday schedules for City facilities
Most City facilities will be closed Thursday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 25, in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. Thursday’s trash, recycling and compost will be collected on Friday. Some recreation facilities and the Museum will reopen on Friday and will remain open throughout the weekend. Find schedules at LongmontColorado.gov/Holidays.
Annual “Holiday Show” at Museum
The Longmont Museum’s holiday tradition is back for its seventh year on Saturday, Dec. 3! Join us for the 3 pm show or 7 pm show for songs of the season and holiday cheer from some of the finest musicians and performers in the region, including Hazel Miller, the Boulder Klezmer Consort and The Mestas Abbott Quartet. Downtown Holiday Lighting – New Location!
Downtown Longmont’s Holiday festivities continue with the ‘Light up the Plaza’ event from 5:30-7 pm on Friday, Nov. 25, at the Longmont Library & Civic Center Plaza, 350 Kimbark St. This new event format and location features tons of holiday fun, including giveaway bags; a winter-themed laser light show and music (5:30-6:30 pm); hot drinks and sweet treats, community arts and crafts activities, and Santa! Mayor Peck Hosts Transportation Meeting
Longmont Mayor Joan Peck is inviting the community to join her and several Colorado transportation representatives to discuss transportation challenges facing Longmont and neighboring communities from 9-11 am on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Longmont Library Meeting Rooms, 409 Fourth Ave. Colorado Gov. Jared Polis is sending a representative from his office. In addition, officials from the Regional Transportation District (RTD), Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Front Range Passenger Rail, and the City of Longmont are scheduled to participate. The conversation is brewing! Longmont Police officers will be hosting Coffee with a Cop from 10 am-noon on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Ziggi’s Coffee, 1139 Francis St. Mark your calendar and plan on joining us. We hope to see you there!
Multicultural Craft Club at the Library
Join the Children’s & Teens Librarians to learn how to use a cardboard loom to weave a craft from 2-3:30 pm on Sunday, Nov. 27, in the Library Meeting Rooms, 409 Fourth Ave. Caregiver must be present with child(ren). Pause with Paws at the Longmont Library
Visit with registered therapy dogs and take a break from holiday and everyday stress from 4 to 5 pm on Monday, Nov. 21, in the Longmont Library Meeting Rooms! This all ages (including adults), casual drop-in event will offer you some quality, de-stressing time with our dog friends from the Library’s Dogs Enjoy Afternoon Reading (D.E.A.R.) program. Longmont Ice Pavilion opens Friday, Nov. 18
Located in Roosevelt Park, the Longmont Ice Pavilion, 725 8th Ave., is a seasonal full service outdoor ice facility offering public ice skating, hockey, skating lessons and private rentals through early March. Sister Cities Documentary
The City of Longmont in partnership with Longmont Public Media is proud to announce the world premiere of Little By Little: Becoming Sister Cities, a new film documenting the complex story of friendship, trepidation and ultimately trust that led to a first-of-its-kind formal relationship between a municipality and a sovereign tribal nation. The film will debut at the Longmont Museum’s Stewart Auditorium on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 3 pm. Members of the Sister Cities organization and the Northern Arapaho Tribe will be a part of a panel discussion following the viewing. There is no cost for attendance, but reservations are required. Fall Break Camp at Longmont Museum
Children ages 8-12 can sign up for one, two, or all three days of camp held at the Longmont Museum the week of Thanksgiving. Holiday Give-Back Pass
As a THANK YOU for enduring COVID restrictions, Longmont Recreation is teaming up to offer a special city-wide pass valid Dec. 23 through Jan. 8, 2023. Passes are valid for admission at the Longmont Recreation Center, Centennial Pool, the St Vrain Memorial Building, the Longmont Ice Pavilion, and the Longmont Museum. With three options available at the low price of $20/$40/$60, the pass-holder can bring one guest, up to three guests, or up to seven guests, respectively, with each visit. Some restrictions apply. Visit with Santa at the Historic Callahan House, 312 Terry St., between 3:30-7:30 pm on Friday, Dec. 2. Reservations open Nov. 18 and are required online at rec.ci.longmont.co.us (keyword Santa) or by calling 303-774-4700 for each person in your party. Enter your float in the holiday parade
It’s time to plan your Longmont Lights parade float! Don’t miss the opportunity to showcase your business or organization in lights at 5 pm on Saturday, Dec. 10, during the annual holiday parade on Main Street. All parade entries are eligible for prizes. Download your entry form and register online at longmontcolorado.gov/LongmontLights. The application deadline is Monday, Dec. 5.
