GOOD TO KNOW

Q: Wasps just built a nest near my electric meter! It’s hard for me to get at because it’s in a lamppost in front of my house – how do I get rid of the thing?

A: Those Narnia-style lampposts are called pedestal lights and they’re designed to hold our electric meters. They’re not designed to host a wasp family, but nobody told them, so nests do turn up sometimes.

Do NOT try to spray a wasp’s nest that’s in a pedestal light! Most wasp sprays are not rated for electrical equipment, so a quick spray can give you a dangerous or even deadly zap. Instead, call Longmont Power & Communications at 303-651-8386 so they can evict your unwanted guests.

Just for Fun

If you act quickly, you can still register for the Street Fighter 6 Main Tournament, part of the Longmont LevelUp Esports Tournament & Festival on September 19. But you might still be too slow to escape this horrible SHORYUKEN pun.
