Open Space

Colorado's front range is seen the distance behind grass and distant trees.

Longmont’s Open Space program preserves natural lands, enhances quality of life, and promotes conservation and stewardship.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that Longmont sits on the traditional territory of the Cheyenne (Tsestho’e), Arapaho (hinono’eino’ biito’owu’), Ute (Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱), and other indigenous peoples. We honor the history and the living and spiritual connection that the first peoples have with this land.

It is our commitment to face the injustices that happened when the land was taken, and to educate our communities, ourselves, and our children to ensure that these injustices do not happen again.

Vision

Our vision is to connect our community with our natural resources by:

  • Protecting and respecting our natural environment
  • Balancing growth and furthering community identity
  • Providing experiential opportunities to educate new generations of stewards
  • Protecting what we value
  • Promoting a sustainable and resilient Longmont
