Mowing
Mowing operations are completed using a combination of city crews and contracted services.
Neighborhood parks, community parks and concrete paved trails are mowed weekly during spring/summer. View the mowing schedule
- Â Scheduled mowing operations may be altered due to unforeseen circumstances.
- In the fall, mowing frequency decreases and then operations cease for the winter
Greenways, nature areas, and other non-irrigated areas are mowed monthly or as needed depending on the established mowing standards. Learn more about mowing in these special areas under Greenway Maintenance.
Note: You can view a complete list of parks broken out by type (neighborhood, community, or nature area) on our Classification of Parks webpage.
Irrigation
Irrigation at all parks is timed and scheduled to begin at 11:00 pm, and in most parks it is completed by sunrise. Some larger parks systems cycle and continue through the early morning. We also monitor the weather and, depending on the weather forecast and anticipated rain accumulation, we will shut irrigation systems off if needed. Our goal is to always use best practices in irrigation and water conservation.
