Public Restrooms - City of Longmont Skip to main content

Restroom Availability

Public restrooms are available in most of Longmont’s neighborhood parks, community parks and nature areas throughout the warmer months. However, many park restrooms close each fall in advance of winter’s frost to prevent damage to the above-ground plumbing, which is not designed to withstand winter temperatures. Those facilities reopen in the spring, based on the schedule shown in the table below.

Portable toilets are placed in several high-traffic areas for use throughout the winter. Vault toilet facilities remain open year-round, as they are not subject to freezing pipes.

Restroom Vandalism

In addition to seasonal closures, restrooms are frequently closed due to vandalism. In the first ten months of 2024, forty-four work orders were issued to repair restroom vandalism. These repairs cost the City $12,949.33. In some cases, repeated vandalism of specific restrooms will result in permanent closure of those restrooms due to the expense.

What can be done? Encourage everyone to respect the property – and report any vandalism you see by calling the Longmont Police Services anonymous tip hotline at (303) 774-3700.

Open Hours and Cleaning Cycle

Restrooms are unlocked between 5 am to 10 pm daily any time they are scheduled to be available. They are cleaned and restocked daily, seven days a week, during that time. However, visitors are encouraged to bring their own soap or hand sanitizer, as the City cannot guarantee these items will be in stock at all times.

If you see a problem with a park or greenway public restroom facility, please contact Parks, Open Space & Trails.
