From gentle yoga and water aerobics to HIIT classes and boot camps, find the right fitness program for your needs at Longmont Recreation. Registration and extra fees may be required.

Land Fitness Class Descriptions and Specialty Classes
The City of Longmont offers a wide variety of fitness classes and events. Prior to starting any type of fitness or conditioning program it is best to first check with your doctor. Participation on a regular basis is recommended for proper conditioning. Schedules may change monthly and not all classes are offered at all times. Check the schedule for current offerings.
Advanced Senior Strength
A challenging, low-no impact strength workout. With a focus on form and quality movement patterns, this class uses weights, bands, FUN, and some floor work to keep your heart, bones, and muscles strong while decreasing your stress and body fat.
Balance and Core
A balance and core class designed for seniors to help improve stability, prevent falls, and maintain independence. Core exercise can improve posture, prevent injuries, and support everyday activities. Balance exercises can help retain mobility with aging.
Boot Camp
Advanced. No choreography, high intensity interval sports conditioning, running, plyometrics, and calisthenics.
Butts and Gutts
Intermediate. Lower body and core training using a variety of different equipment.
Cardio Kickboxing
Advanced. Kick boxing moves and other heart-pumping cardio exercises, incorporated with alternating periods of higher and lower levels of intensity.
Cardio/Sculpt
Intermediate. A powerful cardio and sculpting class that has cardio components and uses combined muscular strength and endurance exercises with a variety of equipment.
Essential Barre
Small, controlled, low impact movements at the ballet barre using your own body weight as resistance to create toned muscles. Ideal for all fitness levels and easily modifiable.
HIIT
High Intensity Interval Training consists of short bursts of intense work followed by a quick recovery period and then right back into the more challenging exercises. Different equipment such as weights, steps, gliding discs and more can be used.
Indoor Cycling
No impact, high intensity stationary bike workout. Instructor leads class with music over varying terrain. Limited bikes available.
Kickboxing Training
Kickboxing moves using kick pads & gloves to get a full body workout.
Mat Pilates $$
An effective form of low impact exercise that builds core strength, tones the entire body, improves flexibility and posture. Class focuses on core stability, balance, precision and control using your own bodyweight for resistance while adding challenge with progressions and props. Improves proprioception and alertness by challenging the body in different planes of motion. Register for Mat Pilates

Joyous barefoot CardioDance fusion that develops flexibility, agility, mobility, strength & stability. Creative self-expression & holistic dance.
Pilyoga
A sculpting and stretching class for all levels using a combination of Yoga poses and Pilates core conditioning.
Power of 3
For beginners this class starts with a cardio section, followed by a sculpting section and ends with a final stretch using relaxation techniques. It employs the three basic components of fitness while constantly evolving and changing to keep you motivated.

A sculpting class for beginners to intermediate that keeps moving from one exercise to another.
SilverSneakers® Cardio
Get Up and Go with an aerobics class for you-safe, heart-healthy and gentle on the joints. The workout includes easy to follow low impact movement, and upper-body strength, abdominal conditioning, stretching and relaxation exercises designed to energize your active lifestyle.
SilverSneakers® Circuit
Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers® ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching, and relaxation exercises.
SilverSneakers® Classic
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
SilverSneakers® Enerchi
Perform modified tai chi forms in a slow, flowing sequence to progress balance and focus. A chair is offered for standing support.
SilverSneakers® Yoga
Yoga will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.
SilverSneakers® Stability
Focusing on specific exercises to improve strength and power around ankles, hips and knees, balance, and reaction time.
Sculpt and Tone
A sculpting class using a variety of equipment such as dumbbells, bands, balls, steps and more. Great for beginners to intermediate participants that keeps moving from one exercise to the next.
Step Aerobics
Step class using intermediate sequences and patterns with no impact or quick transitions.
Stretch and Roll
Increase your flexibility by adding this stretching class that uses different techniques and a foam roller to your routine.
Surge Fit
An energizing HIIT workout combining high intensity cardio sequences with high-rep strength training moves that shape and tone your body for maximum results. Popular music driven highs and lows combined with motivating group atmosphere will get your heart rate and muscles surging to push you to your personal best.
Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a mind-body exercise utilizing slow, relaxed movement, a quiet mind and deep, natural breathing that stimulates the flow of chi. No prior Tai Chi experience necessary.
TRX $$
Suspension Training bodyweight exercise develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously. Register for TRX.
TRX Yoga $$
The ultimate fusion of fitness and yoga, made stronger byt the use of the TRX® suspension trainer. Putting the straps into practice builds a strong foundation of alignment feedback during poses while also building strength, mobility and core stability. Register for TRX.

Zumba®
This program combines Latin and international music with dance in an effort to make exercise fun. Aerobic interval training with a combination of rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba® classes are offered through licensed instructors only.
Zumba® Glow Party
A traditional Zumba® class but with the over head lights down and using fun, colorful lights to inspire a real party atmosphere.
Zumba® Gold
A Zumba® Class with less impact, no pivots and simpler choreography. Perfect for the beginner, young at heart, or those needing a low impact workout but still want to enjoy the “party”
atmosphere.
Zumba® Step
Take lower body workouts and calorie burning to new heights with a gravity-defying blend of
Zumba® routines and step aerobics.
Water Fitness Class Descriptions
All water classes are suitable for all fitness levels.
Aqua Power
A high intensity, predominately shallow water, running and cardiovascular interval class designed to maximize your calorie burn in an hour and target buns, thighs and abs. Different equipment such a water weights, noodles or resistance bands may be used. Offered at LRC and Centennial Pool or Sunset pool in the summer.
Aqua Motion
A mild, no “bounce” class for stretching and toning muscles and improving cardiovascular conditioning, CORE stability and joint mobility. Performed using the current of the Lazy River and the warmer water for improved joint action. This is a great class if you have arthritis, joint limitations or replacements, or if you are pregnant. Aqua Zumba®
Make a Splash and Join the Pool Party! Water fitness choreographed to Latin rhythms.
Deep H2O
A moderate intensity water aerobics class with no impact to the joints. Flotation belts are provided. Different water equipment such as water weights, noodles, resistance bands may be used.
Deep Water Boot camp
Take your deep water class to the next level with this high intensity, low impact workout. Using interval training and the waters natural resistance, torch calories and get the most out of your workout!
Masters Swimming
Improve your skills and stamina through intervals, drills and distance swimming. Recommended for adults who are comfortable swimming at least 1,000 yards non-stop.
Beginning Masters Swimming
Not quite ready for Masters Swimming? Beginning Masters can get you there! While catering to your individual needs, you will receive stroke work plus a great workout. This program is recommended for adults who are comfortable swimming 200 yards non-stop.
SilverSneakers® Splash
Activate your aqua urge for variety! SilverSplash® offers lots of fun shallow-water moves to improve agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming ability is required, and a special SilverSneakers® kickboard is used to develop strength, balance and coordination. Other equipment such as buoys or noodles might be used also.
Join Recreation Instructors at Lanyon Park for a free Pilyoga class at 12pm on the first and third Sat of the month. No registration required. Bring a water bottle and a yoga mat if you have one. Childcare not available.
