Free Swim Lessons Information

The City of Longmont’s Recreation Services annually sponsors free beginner swim lesson sessions for Longmont resident youth (3-17 years old) who do not know how to swim. The goal of this program is to provide more opportunities for youth to learn how to be safe and have fun in and around the water.

To Qualify:

  • Be a child, 3 to 17 years of age, in need of beginner swim lessons
  • Live within the city limits of Longmont
  • Scheduling preference will go to children who haven’t had lessons with the City of Longmont before

Applications will be open for Fall 2026 from July 15 through July 31!

Applications will open at 8:00am on July 15, and close at the end of the day on July 31.  You can access both English and Spanish versions of the form below.

Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee a scholarship or registration in any class or activity. Registration for Fall swim lessons will open to the public on Tuesday, August 11.

Please keep in mind:

  • Swim lesson sessions are offered at the Longmont Recreation Center (310 Quail Rd.) and Centennial Swimming Pool (1201 Alpine St.). Morning, afternoon, and weekend options exist.
  • All efforts will be made to keep siblings together in the same swim lesson session.
  • Free swim lessons are issued on a funds-available basis. Funds are not transferable to any other swim lesson session or other family members.
