We All Have a Role

An overarching strategy that is fundamental to the success of the Sustainability Plan is broad education about and awareness of sustainable opportunities and practices. This includes within the City of Longmont organization and within the greater community. We all have a role in helping create a more sustainable Longmont!

Join the Equitable Climate Action Team

The Equitable Climate Action Team (ECAT) is a group of volunteer community members who assist City staff in implementing equitable climate action through community education, outreach and the evaluation of City programs.

Join the Longmont Sustainability Coalition

Do you want to learn more about sustainability in Longmont and meet other environmentally conscious Longmonsters? Sign up for the Longmont Sustainability Coalition! There is no commitment; simply attend as many meetings as you’d like.

 

The group has been meeting quarterly since 2017. Meetings typically include a 15-minute guest presentation followed by updates on current projects and priorities from a City of Longmont, Office of Sustainability staff member. There is also an opportunity for attendees to share sustainability-related announcements. Meeting are conducted in English but reasonable accommodations, including Spanish interpretation, are available with a least 2 week’s notice.

  • February 12. Virtual on Zoom.
  • May 14. In-person. Location to be determined.
  • August 13. In-person. Location to be determined.
  • November 12. Virtual on Zoom.

Sustainability Advisory Board Meetings

The Sustainability Advisory Board consists of seven members appointed for three year terms in accordance with Chapter 2.96 of the Longmont Municipal Code. The board acts in an advisory capacity to the Longmont City Council. Its duties are to identify topics related to environmental quality and sustainability, such as air and water quality, pollution prevention, solid waste disposal and recycling, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and green building, and to advise the City Council on plans, policies, and actions related to those topics.
