What’s the City doing to keep Longmont Cool?
We’ve been busy talking with the community about how we can help everyone be safe and comfortable. Here are a few highlights of what we’ve accomplished.

- Developed a Climate Risk Mapping Tool
- Completed an urban heat island mapping project
- Conducted a city-wide survey of resident’s experiences with summer heat
- Collaborated with community organizations to provide heat information door-to-door in vulnerable neighborhoods
- Hosted bi-lingual cooling solution workshops, attended neighborhood events, and presented to community groups
- Built an interactive heat information and cooling solutions display
- Conducted phone interviews with vulnerable populations
- Completed a Heat Action Plan
- Began collaborating with Public Safety and attended heat-related emergency preparedness table top exercises
- Received grants to provide in-home cooling support and build a new splash pad at Kensington Park
- Launched the Keep Cool campaign and cooling tent at large public events
- Collaborated with Boulder County on the Growing Shade tree planting project
