Maintenance of the City’s Art in Public Places collection is an endless task.
As the collection grows and ages, the task of maintenance grows!
Have you seen something that doesn’t look quite right? Perhaps it’s broken, tagged, or a bolt may simply be missing. Please let us know by contacting 303-651-8924 or email the AIPP administrator to alert us. Thank you!
The Safety & Justice building is showing significant signs of structural distress. In November 2018, City of Longmont voters approved revenue bonds to fund rehabilitation and improvements to City buildings including the Safety & Justice Center. Bringing the building up to current essential code requirements and extending the life span by 50 years was identified in the original bond.
The rehabilitation of the building will also require the removal of the current public art, “How We Live and What We Live For” installed in 1993, which is attached to the rotunda. The removal of this art is currently planned for Spring 2025. The updated design of the rehabilitated Safety & Justice Center includes prominent locations for new commissioned public art. Art in Public Places will conduct a national call for artists upon completion of the building.
If you are interested in being notified about the future Safety & Justice artwork or would like to serve on an artwork selection panel, please email the AIPP administrator for more information.
Details and updated information about the project are available at the City Project website.
