Trash & Recycling

The City of Longmont offers a FREE curbside collection of tree limbs each spring.

Know the schedule, requirements and tips to be ready.

A map of Longmont is split into two sections for the different weeks of Spring Branch collection

2025 Collection Schedule

  • Limbs will be collected at residences located North of 9th Avenue April 7- 11
  • Limbs will be collected at residences located South of 9th Avenue April 14 - 18

Guidelines

  • Branch piles must be out before 7 a.m. on the MONDAY of your scheduled collection week and should be left out the entire week until collected.
  • Residents North of 9th Avenue, have branches at curbside before April 7th.
  • Residents South of 9th Avenue, have branches at curbside before April 14th.
  • Place branch piles in front of your house by the curb.
  • Branch piles on private property or in alleys will not be collected.

    ""

  • Branches must be stacked. Limbs must be cut up into lengths no longer than 6 feet, and no limb may be larger than 6 inches in diameter. Limbs must be placed into stacks no larger than 3 feet in diameter. Stacks should be spaced at least 2 feet apart so they do not interlock. Piles and limbs exceeding these requirements will not be collected.
  • Only one pass will be made through each neighborhood, so be sure to have branch piles out before 7 a.m. on the Monday of your collection week
    • Any branch piles put out after the collection day will not be collected by the City and will be the responsibility of the homeowner.
  • Limbs must be placed in the gutter off the sidewalk, no closer than two feet from any fence, building, or obstacle that would interfere with the pickup of the pile by the work crews.
  • Limbs will not be collected in alleys or on private property. Even if your trash/recycling collection occurs in an alley, you must place limbs curbside in front of your property for pick-up.

Tips

  • For those that miss the curbside collection or prefer to dispose of branches on their own schedule:
    • The Longmont Recycle Center accepts branches and yard-waste year-round (no need to wait for the City collection!)
    • Curbside composting subscribers can place branches inside their composting cart year-round.

Spring Street Sweeping Operations

In addition to the Spring Branch Collection program conducted by Waste Services, the City's Street Maintenance team conducts a citywide street sweep each spring. Street sweeping typically requires more than one trip through an area. Once an area is deemed complete, any additional sweeping will be on an as needed basis once the citywide sweep is finished.
