Classification of Parks

A colorful red and green play structure sits on white sand with McIntosh Lake and mountains in the background.

The City of Longmont’s park system includes four types of parks:

  • Neighborhood Parks provide close-to-home recreation activities with playgrounds, playing fields, sport courts, shelters, dog off-leash areas and small wheels parks.
  • Community Parks serve the larger community and provide space for athletic complexes and major recreation facilities such as pools and recreation centers.
  • Nature Areas provide access to important natural, historic and cultural resources. They offer limited recreational uses that fit the unique natural characteristics of each area, and promote low impact, passive outdoor recreational opportunities.
  • Dog Parks serve dogs and their people. Learn about dog park guidelines.

A current list of parks, park numbers, and approximate square acreage appears below.
