Longmont Museum Hosts NASA Astronaut Vance Brand

WHAT: The Longmont Museum is hosting Longmont native and former NASA astronaut Vance Brand for a presentation in the Stewart Auditorium. Brand is one of Longmont’s most notable living heroes. He graduated from Longmont High School and went on to fly four space missions. Join Brand for a talk full of stories and video footage from his boyhood days to military flying, civilian test piloting, space travel and departure from the Johnson Space Center. Vance will also look to the future in the fields of aeronautics and human space flight. Copies of Brand’s new autobiography Flying Higher and Faster will be available for purchase in the Museum’s gift shop and the astronaut will sign books following the presentation. 

As part of this event, the Museum is also displaying a historic photo show in the Museum’s atrium highlighting Brand’s life and legacy as well the Museum’s moon rock, gifted by Brand in 2006. 

WHEN: Wednesday, May 17 at 7 pm

WHERE: The Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road in Longmont, Colorado
