Pace Street and Rough & Ready Trail Improvements Begin May 4
Pace Street and Rough & Ready Trail Improvements Begin May 4
Starting Monday, May 4, the City of Longmont and contractor Zak Dirt will begin making improvements to Pace Street between 9th Avenue and 17th Avenue and the nearby Rough & Ready Greenway Trail. Construction of these two projects has been combined, and they will be completed together.
The Pace Street Improvements will fix the roadway, widen the street and improve drainage along Pace Street in the corridor. The Rough & Ready Trail Improvements will replace aging asphalt with new concrete on the trail between 9th Avenue and Mountain View Avenue, creating a more durable and accessible trail surface.
Construction will occur in two phases:
Phase One: 9th Avenue to Mountain View Avenue, May 4 through mid-summer
- Work will include drainage improvements, curb and gutter, ramps and inlets along Pace Street.
- Crews will complete new concrete on the Rough & Ready Trail between 9th Avenue and Mountain View Avenue.
Phase Two: Mountain View Avenue to 17th Avenue, mid-summer through late 2026
-
- Construction will continue north on Pace Street from Mountain View Avenue to 17th Avenue.
- The final stage of the project will install new asphalt across the full project length from 9th Avenue to 17th Avenue.
Traffic Impacts:
-
-
- At least one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction on Pace Street during construction.
- Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate north-south routes when possible.
- Access to driveways will be maintained, except for short-term impacts when work is directly in front of a driveway. Affected property owners will be notified in advance.
- The Rough & Ready Trail will be closed to pedestrians and bicyclists during construction. Trail users should follow posted detour signs and avoid entering closed construction areas.
-
Normal working hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 am to 6 pm. Some weekend work may be required due to weather or other factors. Some overnight closures may also be needed for concrete work.
