Summer is here and we are very excited! As always, our ever-popular Summer Reading Program is the highlight. Did you know Summer Reading is for everyone? Who says only kids get to have all the fun? Kids, teens and adults can all participate in the Summer Reading Program for a chance to win prizes.

Of course, as fun as it is, Summer Reading is also an important way for kids to keep their reading skills sharp for the upcoming school year and for older readers to maintain literacy and comprehension skills. This year’s Summer Reading Kickoff Party will take place right here at the Library, with music and fun for all ages. Start flipping through the brochure to see everything else happening at the Library this season.

We are getting closer to having our new Hold Pickup Lockers ready, which I mentioned in last season’s brochure. These lockers will allow you to place holds on library materials and pick them up from a secure locker location that is more convenient for you. Information will be shared at bit.ly/libpickuplockers.

These lockers are not just for picking up books. They are also a work of art. Longmont artist and former Library employee Grace Gutierrez designed a beautiful piece that decorates the lockers. Her art appears beside my photo above and on our book delivery van, pictured on the next page. Grace did an amazing job, and we are proud to feature her work as part of the Library.
