Events & Happenings

July 4 Celebration

Longmont’s annual fireworks show will take place at a new location on Thursday, July 4! The Longmont Symphony Orchestra and Longmont Chorale will set a festive tone for the holiday with their annual Fourth of July Concert in the Park from 11 am-3 pm at Roosevelt Park, 700 Longs Peak Ave. The festivities will continue downtown at 2nd Avenue and Emery Street for a Downtown Street Party, where live music, food trucks, kids’ activities and more will be featured starting at 5 pm. The St. Vrain Valley School District Drone Academy, sponsored by NextLight, will provide a special drone show in the sky starting at 9:15 pm. Fireworks, courtesy of Skyline Kiwanis, will launch from the Longmont Fire Training Center at 111 1st Ave., starting at 9:30 pm. Both shows will be viewable from the Street Party downtown. Dickens Nature Area will be closed beginning at 4 pm. Details about all the free events can be found on the Fireworks webpage.

Holiday schedules for City facilities

Most City facilities will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday, except for select recreation facilities with special holiday hours. Thursday’s waste bins will be collected on Friday, July 5 in observance of the Fourth of July. Please have containers out before 7 am. Author Talk: Alexandra Kiley

Join romance author Alexandra Kiley and writer and coach Kym Summers from 6-7 pm on Thursday, July 11 at the Longmont Library, as they discuss writing, the romance genre, why Scotland is such a hot place for romance and Kiley’s 2024 romance, “Kilt Trip.” The event is free to attend; registration is required at the Library Programs webpage or by calling 303-651-8472.

Volunteer as a Sustainability Ambassador!

Are you passionate about the environment? Do you want to help Longmont be more sustainable? If that sounds like you, consider applying to be a volunteer SOLL Sustainability Ambassador! Schedules are flexible with evening and weekend opportunities to volunteer. Free Summer Concert in the Park

Pack your picnic basket and join us in Collyer Park, 600 Collyer St., for a free summer concert featuring the Denver Taiko from 6:30-8 pm on Wednesday, July 10. Performing traditional Japanese Taiko drumming, as well as their own original compositions, Denver Taiko’s repertoire of rhythmic grooves and heart-pounding beats make for a dynamic and high-energy show you won’t soon forget. This concert is hosted by the Longmont Museum while their outdoor courtyard undergoes renovation. Shock Art 2024 community voting

Longmont’s favorite public art project is back this summer! Stop by Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road, from June 24-July 13 to vote for your favorite boxes.
