There are a number of benefits to owners which include:

The program is solution oriented, and has three key elements that will ensure the crime prevention goal:

PHASE 1: The Longmont Police Department will host a one-day free seminar. Topics include: working with police, warning signs for illegal activity, crime prevention strategies, crime free drug free lease addendum, being a pro-active property manager, strengthening rental agreements, resident and employee screening, the eviction process and building community.

PHASE 2: A security evaluation inspection is performed by the Longmont Police Department to ensure the property meets minimum security standards.

PHASE 3: Apartment communities will host a crime prevention event to establish an apartment watch program.

At completion of all three phases, the property will be granted permission to use the "Crime Free Housing" signs stating they have joined the Crime Free Housing Program. The property will be audited annually for compliance in order to grant a renewal certificate.
