Collaborative Services Division

The Collaborative Services Division is dedicated to strengthening connections and delivering exceptional support for both the Public Safety Department and the Longmont community. Guided by our core values of collaboration, innovation, and stewardship, we work to build lasting partnerships that enhance safety, trust, and service excellence. Our team leads with empathy, integrity, and professionalism – committed to doing what’s right and fostering growth and accountability. The division is comprised of two key sections: Community Services, which focuses on outreach and engagement, and Internal Services, which provides specialized support to ensure operational success.

Community Programs

Crisis Outreach Response and Engagement (CORE)

Longmont Department of Public Safety’s CORE team is a specialized co-responder unit comprised of a specially trained police officer, a behavioral health clinician, and a paramedic. Together, the CORE team responds to 911 calls for service that indicate a mental health crisis. Once on scene, members apply their specialized skill sets to provide triage and assessment, de-escalate crisis conditions, manage field clearances, and divert individuals with behavioral health conditions from the justice system and the emergency room – redirecting them to appropriate treatment destinations. The goal of this program is to produce a dynamic, flexible response model for mental health crisis calls that brings the right resources sooner, identifies the dominant issue quickly, and takes the individual to the appropriate destination the first time while providing a robust case management and outreach system. This unit of skilled, dedicated professionals focuses on building relationships with participants while working to help people improve their quality of life.
