The City of Longmont is committed to enhancing public safety, quality of life, and operational efficiency through the use of Community Crime Cameras. The Community Crime Cameras are placed in strategic locations throughout the city to help detect, deter, and investigate matters related to public safety to include crime and vandalism. Community Crime Cameras are installed in public areas and the equipment is readily visible.

Additional Information:
- The Community Crime Camera program is managed and operated by the Longmont Department of Public Safety.
- Community Crime Cameras are only positioned to record data in areas considered public where there is no reasonable expectation of privacy.
- Access to the Community Crime Cameras and any associated recordings is limited to authorized personnel who receive additional training and must adhere to all applicable city polices and laws.
- Community Crime Cameras are only utilized for legitimate public safety or operational purposes, including, but not limited to:
- Preventing, deterring, and investigating criminal activity
- Addressing areas of vandalism, park safety, or other areas of criminal activity
- Managing critical incidents and emergency situations
- Identifying, apprehending, and prosecuting suspects of criminal offenses and traffic violations
- Augmenting staffing and other resources
- Monitoring pedestrian, vehicle traffic, and road conditions
- When applicable, real-time information obtained from the Community Crime Cameras may be used to initiate a response from Public Safety and/or relayed to responding public safety staff.
- Community Crime Cameras do not use facial recognition nor are they used for predictive analysis.
- Recordings from the Community Crime Cameras are only stored for 14 days unless specifically retained for an authorized purpose.
