Sports Coaches Needed!
Do you have a passion for kids? Sports? Volunteering? The City of Longmont Recreation Services – Athletics is in need of adults who would love to spend time with youth – coaching, mentoring and teaching life skills.
We offer volleyball and lacrosse in the Spring and Fall, Fast-pitch Softball in the Spring, Cross Country in the Fall, Basketball in the Winter and numerous sports in the summer season. Practices are 2 hours per week with games/meets typically in Saturdays in Longmont or along the front range. Coaches can choose practice time/place from available options.

Underwater Easter Egg Hunt

Volunteer Position: Course Marshals- direct and cheer the runners on the race course, back-up timers, finish line helpers, check-in assistants

Everyone is welcome to volunteer! Families, friends, seniors, adults, teenagers, anyone! This is a great opportunity for High School students who are trying to earn volunteer hours as well!
**Age requirement: without an adult, 16 years and older (may have to drive to volunteer location after check-in). Younger ages accepted with accompanying, supervising individual 16 years or older.

Sandstone Ranch depends on volunteers to run our programs! We need volunteers for open house hours, gardening, school field trips, and nature and history programming. The Longmont Recreation Services SCOPE (Supportive, Captivating, and Original Programs & Experiences) provides specialized support and recreational opportunities to people with disabilities and encourages people of all abilities to participate in recreational program and activities.
Our programs rely on YOU, our volunteers for its success! Help make a difference in the lives of people with special needs.
Volunteer Opportunities through SCOPE:
- Coach a Special Olympics Sports team (one night per week for one hour)
- Play as a Unified Partner on a Special Olympics Sports team
- Help us host at our monthly themed social events!
SCOPE relies on a great community of volunteers and sponsors to support individuals, teams and programs. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact the SCOPE Office.
Training and orientation available. Background check required for all volunteers 18 & older.
Volunteer Descriptions
Coach – plans and leads practices and gameplay according to City of Longmont and Special Olympics rules; facilitates athlete learning by providing encouragement, support, instruction, drills, and corrective feedback; ensures athlete and partner safety; fosters a positive team environment; models good sportsmanship; assists program coordinator in completing all required paperwork for competition entry. Coaches must complete the Class A Volunteer Application and other Special Olympics Colorado coaching requirements found at www.specialolympicsco.org/volunteer/coach, in addition to City of Longmont Volunteer training and orientation.
Partner – player without disabilities who plays alongside SCOPE athletes in practices and Special Olympics competitions; facilitates athlete learning by providing encouragement and support; models good sportsmanship; is a team player. Unified Partners must complete the Class A Volunteer Application found at www.specialolympicsco.org/volunteer/unified-partner prior to competition play.

CARA Swim Meet

Time Requested: 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Positions Available: Timer- time the swim events; Runner- move the swim event cards from the timers the to ribbon table; Heater- organize the swim event cards into heats and lanes; Heater – give the kids their swim event cards and put them in their respective lanes.
