About the Program

Grow your own library of books at home by taking part in an exciting new literacy project — Longmont Growing Readers, presented by the Stewart Family Foundation and in partnership with Unite for Literacy.

 

Registration

When you sign up, your 4-year-old will get:

  • Four, beginning reader books mailed weekly to your home for 25 weeks — a total of 100 books by the program’s end!
  • Access to online versions of the same books read in English, Spanish, and other languages.
  • Tip cards that encourage reading at home.

Families must register to take part in this program. Sign up your child(ren) using the button/link below or fill out a paper application by visiting the Children’s & Teens’ Services desk on the 1st floor of the Library, 409 4th Ave.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which families can sign up? Any family living in Longmont with a child who is 4 years old at time of program enrollment.

Can two children from one family/household sign up? Yes, if both children are 4 years old. Your family will receive two identical packets with the same books, so the children can have their own books.

When will distribution start? Your first packet of books will usually be mailed within two weeks of signing up.

Can I get books in Spanish? Yes, when you register you can choose English only, or English and Spanish. If you choose English and Spanish, you will get two books in English and two books in Spanish in your weekly packet.

Who chooses the books in the packets? All books are created and selected by Unite for Literacy. Longmont librarians do not have control over which books are sent.

Using the Online Collection

View all the books in our personalized online library below by clicking on the books you would like to read! Browse through different collections like Animals, Create and Play, Healthy Me, and more or search for categories by clicking on the “Categories” icon.

Switching Languages and Using Narration

The Longmont Growing Readers library below allows users to change the language to Spanish, as well as changing the narration to other languages like French, German, Italian, Hindi, and more! Click on the “Narration” icon to use this feature.
