Library of Things

Did you know your Library has a collection of useful items that you can borrow? Maybe you only need them for a short-term project or maybe you’d like to try something out before purchasing one yourself.

Rules for the Library of Things:

• You must have an Adult Resident Longmont Public Library card to borrow these items.
• Items check out for 7 days. Items cannot be renewed or have their time extended. Items can be returned at any point during their 7-day checkout period. Items must be returned during open hours to the Adult Reference Desk upstairs. Items can not be returned to book drops.
• Items need to be reserved in advance. You choose the date to pick-up your item. Items can be reserved up to 45 days in advanced.
• A person other than the one making the reservation may pick up the item. However, the person picking up the item must have their name on the booking form, they must be ready to show a photo ID, and they must be 18 years old or above.
• An individual may only have one of a specific item checked out at a time.
• An individual may only have one of a specific item reserved at a time.
• By checking out a Library of Things item, borrowers agree to follow all Library policies and all state and federal laws governing the use of that item. Borrowers also agree that the Longmont Public Library is not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage that may occur as a result of use of Library of Thing items.
• If the item remains overdue after 24 hours, the patron will be charged the replacement fee of the item. Patrons have 7 days to return the item to remove the replacement fine from their account. On the 8th day, the replacement fine will not be removed, even if the item is returned. We will not check in LOT items until all the pieces are returned.
• If circumstances warrant, the Library reserves the right to refuse the use of items in the Library of Things or to discontinue borrowing privileges for items in the Library of Things collection to any individual.
