LONGMONT, CO — In an effort to slow the infection rate of COVID-19 and comply with the new restrictions of the county’s transition to Safer at Home Level Red: Severe Risk, the Longmont Museum and Cultural Center will be closed to in-person visits until further notice beginning at 3 p.m. today, Nov. 20.

The Museum will offer its remaining Thursday Night programs for the season virtually. The Annual Holiday Show, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5, will be broadcasted through Facebook LIVE, LongmontPublicMedia.org and Comcast cable channels 8 and 880.

Parents and families who have purchased kits for their children’s Discovery Day classes and Fall Break classes will be able to pick them up through curbside pick-up. There will also be curbside pick-up available for Erik Mason’s new book, “Longmont: The First 150 Years.” Those interested can order and pay for the book online.

Curbside pick-up is available at the Museum, 400 Quail Road, on the following days and times:

• 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 20
• 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21
• 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday, Nov. 23
• 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 24

Patrons of the Museum will be able to view the current exhibit, Día de los Muertos: 20th Anniversary, online through the Museum’s 360-degree tour. The exhibition features altars designed by the community to honor loved ones who have passed, in addition to the artwork of renowned Colorado artist Tony Ortega. Ortega’s lifelong goal is to contribute to a better understanding of diversity by addressing the culture, history, and experiences of Latinx people through his vibrant art.
