The Land Development Code (Title 15 of the Longmont Municipal Code) is available on-line. The most recent ordinances amending the Land Development Code and other provisions of the Municipal Code may be found by accessing the City’s Public Records Portal.

 

The following is a brief description of what can be found in each of the chapters and appendices of the Land Development Code.

 

Chapter 15.01: General Provisions – Describes the applicability, use and interpretation of the development code.

 

Chapter 15.02: Development Procedures / Section 2 – Describes the role of various decision making bodies/individuals, general provisions regarding development procedures, procedures for all major and minor development applications, vested rights, public improvement review, building permits, beneficial use determination, and environmental assessments.

 

Chapter 15.03: Zoning Districts – Describes all zoning districts, including standards for overlay districts and planned unit development (PUD) districts.

 

Chapter 15.04: Use Regulations – Describes where uses are allowed in various zoning districts (includes the permitted, limited, conditional, and accessory use tables), and standards and restrictions that are imposed on certain uses or within certain districts.

 

Chapter 15.05: Development Standards / Section 2 – Describes standards that are applicable to various types of developments or under specific circumstances, such as dimensional, density and intensity standards, natural area/habitat protection, open space, streets and vehicle access/circulation/connectivity, pedestrian and bicycle access and connectivity, drainage, parking and loading, landscaping, fences/walls, residential and non-residential building design, outdoor storage and display, outdoor lighting, adequate public facilities, operation and performance standards (i.e.: air quality, noise, hazardous waste, etc.), wireless telecommunications, mobile homes, construction and acceptance of improvements, improvement guarantees, and affordable housing.

 

Chapter 15.06: Signs – Describes sign standards for residential and non-residential districts.

Chapter 15.07: Subdivision and Improvement Standards – Describes general provisions for subdivisions, including dedications/reservations for community facilities, lot standards, cluster lot developments, subdivision design and improvements, property/homeowner associations, and special improvement districts.

 

Chapter 15.08: Non-conformities – Describes how nonconforming uses and structures.

 

Chapter 15.09: Enforcement and Penalties – Describes responsibility, authorization, and process for violations of the development code.

 

Chapter 15.10: Definitions -Describes definitions for the procedures, uses, and other terms within the development code.

 

Appendix A: Application Fees- Describes fees for various types of development applications.

 

Appendix B: Submittal Requirements – Describes information that is required when submitting a development application.

 

Appendix C: Signature Certification Blocks– Describes what signature blocks are required for various development applications.

 

Appendix D: Petitions – Includes petitions required for annexations, re-zonings, and vacations for easements and right-of-way.
