Project Overview
The $5 million Civic Center Rehabilitation project began in June of 2018 to correct problems caused by failing steel strands that reinforced the concrete slab originally installed in 1975. New external post tension strands have been installed and a new carbon fiber overlay has been applied. Longmont voters approved a ballot initiative that increased project funding by $8.5 million in 2018 that has allowed additions to Phase I work and secured funding for Phase II rehabilitation to continue at the Civic Center Complex. The project team of JR Harris and Restruction Corporation continue to make the needed improvements that will extend the life expectancy of this City of Longmont facility.

Overview
In 2018, Longmont voters passed a ballot issue to build two new fire stations. Fire Station 2 is currently at 2300 Mountain View Ave and was built in 1967 and Fire Station 6 was built in 1971 at 501 S. Pratt Parkway. Because of the changes in fire apparatus, the existing stations cannot accommodate modern equipment. Station 2 will be built on a parcel the City recently purchased on 17th Ave just east of Hover. Because of the ability to expand on the existing site, Station 6 will be scraped and rebuilt at its current location.

In 2018, City of Longmont voters approved Ballot issue 3C which provided the funding to update the current irrigation systems at Twin Peaks and Sunset golf courses. Twin Peaks is a Frank Hummel designed golf course that opened for play in 1977. The original irrigation system has been in operation since 1977 at Twin Peaks, with a controller update completed in 2010 to replace irrigation controllers that Toro no longer provided replacement parts for. The new irrigation system will replace the sprinkler heads and pipe that have been in the ground for over 45 years, with a modern electronically-controlled irrigation system and pump stations. The irrigation project will also update the current irrigation system at Sunset Golf Course to electronically controlled sprinkler heads and modernized pump station.
Larry Rodgers Design Group was awarded the bid to design the updated irrigation system at Twin Peaks and updates at Sunset, with American Civil Constructors (ACC) being awarded the bid to complete the work. Both courses will remain open during construction as weather permits.
Sunset Golf Course Update, Spring 2024
American Civil Construction (ACC) has completed the head installation at Sunset and the system has been watering when needed with the new pumps.
Twin Peaks Update, Spring 2024
New pipes, sprinklers, and controllers have been installed on holes 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, & 9. The dredging has begun on the irrigation lakes and installation of the intake piping & wet well on the east lake. ACC is planning on having the new irrigation heads operation on the front 9 along with the new pump stations installed by the time they leave in mid to late May.
Mid to late May, ACC will leave to work on another project they have scheduled in the mountains. There will be a small crew at Twin Peaks through the summer to work on touching up areas on the front 9 where the new irrigation system has been installed.
The install crews will return to Twin Peaks at the end of September or early October and finish installing the remainder of the irrigation system on the back 9. The next step is installing the new mainline throughout the back 9 where it ties into the mainline installed earlier in the year. Lastly the crew will install lateral sprinkler lines and sprinklers until the remainder of the course is completed.
The project is scheduled to be completed in December of 2024.

Background
A Conditional Use Site Plan for the Ute Creek Golf Course was approved by the City of Longmont, Planning & Zoning Commission in 1995. The golf course was designed by world-renowned golf course architects of the Robert Trent Jones II Group and opened in 1997. In 2002, a site plan amendment was approved detailing the proposed Ute Creek Golf Course Maintenance Facility just east of the existing Clubhouse and parking lot centrally located within the course. Due to budgetary constraints the facility was not built at that time. In 2018, Longmont voters approved Ballot Issue 3C which provided the necessary funding for the construction of this maintenance facility. The maintenance facility will consist of two (2) buildings, material storage bins, and a central maintenance yard to support the daily operations of the golf course and will be constructed at the existing maintenance facility, located at 12196 Ute Hwy.
