Community Cohesion & Resilience
The Sustainability Office is partnering with Community and Neighborhood Resources to develop neighborhood-based sustainability programs that empower and fulfill the needs of diverse communities throughout Longmont.
Ensuring equitable outcomes and access to sustainability initiatives is an important component of the Sustainability Plan. The sustainable community initiatives highlighted below attempt to engage all Longmont residents in the process and benefits of sustainability.

SNS: Sustainable Neighborhood Solutions Program
The Sustainable Neighborhood Solutions (SNS) program is a unique new approach to sustainability that will roll out over the next few years to leverage Longmont’s extensive network of established community groups and empower neighborhoods as a primary partner and facilitator in achieving the City’s sustainability goals.
The program will increase the capacity of community groups to catalyze sustainable local change through a structure that provides the necessary knowledge and resources for communities to:
- Assess neighborhood needs and assets
- Identify and manage projects that increase neighborhood sustainability
- Utilize prepackaged resources and partnerships
- Evaluate results
The program will remove barriers, facilitate beneficial partnerships, and create opportunities for grassroots driven sustainability improvements.

SOLL: Sustainable Opportunities, Lifestyles, and Leadership
The SOLL project will train community members as sustainability technicians and ambassadors who will use new green job skills to conduct in-home sustainability assessments and improvements in participating communities. Sustainability improvements will include energy and water conservation, sanitation and safety upgrades, resident education, and registration for other qualified services.
For more information, visit the SOLL webpage under Community and Neighborhood Resources.
Longmont Equity Team
