New in 2025!

New Collection Services Now Available in Longmont

In addition to your regular trash, recycling and compost collection, the City of Longmont is partnering with regional organizations to offer new collection services that make it even easier to dispose of waste responsibly and keep materials out of the landfill:

🛠️ Weekly Reuse Collection – Resource Central

  • Reusable building materials such as lumber, cabinets, windows, doors, sinks, tile, appliances, and some large furniture can now be collected from your home.
  • Provided through the Zero Waste team at Resource Central in order to continue to divert waste from the landfill and make a sustainable difference in our community.

☣️ Hazardous Waste Home Pickup – Boulder County Program

Having trouble getting to Boulder? Longmont older adults and people experiencing disability can schedule a pick-up of their household hazardous materials.

Materials (up to 50 pounds) must be placed outside for pick-up include:

  • Paints and stains
  • Household cleaners and chemicals
  • Batteries, automotive fluids, and more

Missed Collections

There are a number of reasons that your trash, recycling and/or composting might have been missed.

  • Holiday Weeks: During holiday weeks, the collection schedule is delayed by one day following the holiday. Find more details in the Holidays section below.
  • Blocked or Improper Set Out Sometimes trash/recycling/composting can’t be collected because containers are blocked or containers were set out incorrectly. Check the service guidelines to make sure your containers were set out correctly.
  • Every Other Week Schedule: Recycling (blue lid), Composting (green lid) and Every Other Week (EOW) Trash (yellow lid) are only collected once every two weeks. Be sure to follow the collection schedule and set up reminders to help.
  • Severe Weather: On rare occasions, extreme weather such as snow, ice or wind can impact collection. Sign up for service alerts through the online calendar to be notified in these situations.

If your trash / recycling / composting was not picked up (and not for one of the above reasons), please contact Waste Services.

Holidays

Collection service is not provided on the following holidays:

  • Martin Luther King Day
  • Presidents Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veteran’s Day
  • Thanksgiving Day**
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Day

 

These holidays are observed according to the City of Longmont holiday schedule and are noted on the collection calendar.

Pick up resumes the day after a City-observed holiday. During a holiday week, if your normal collection day falls ON or AFTER the observed holiday, your collection will be one day later than normal.

**Special Note – Thanksgiving Week Collection Changes 

 The City of Longmont Waste Services will pick up waste collections one day early during the week of Thanksgiving. All bins should be out on the curb before 7 a.m. on their appointed collection day and remain out until they are picked up.
