Nino Gallo Park Master Plan

Scheduled timeline

While the Nino Gallo project was delayed due to COVID-19, construction will begin in Q4 2024 and will be completed in 2025.

Park Design

After working with residents through a series of public meetings and an online survey, the park design will include a restroom, perennial garden, playground, half-court basketball, picnic shelter, slackline/hammock posts, a 6-hole youth disc golf course, an off-leash dog area and a wavy sidewalk offering terrain for beginning bicyclists .

Name Selection

Nino Gallo was a valued collaborative leader who served Longmont and Boulder County communities for more than 25 years, making a significant difference in the lives of many community members. His contributions to the Longmont community helped the City win its first All-America City award in 2006.

After Gallo passed away in 2020, community members across Longmont and the entire Boulder County region rallied and advocated for an enduring tribute to him. Of particular note was Gallo’s involvement as the housing manager of Casa de la Esperanza, a subsidized housing community with deep roots in the southeast Longmont neighborhood that will be served by Nino Gallo Park. The Longmont City Council approved the naming of the park on Feb. 8, 2022.

Public Involvement Process

Public Survey on Park Concepts

A survey was conducted in late February 2019 to collect public feedback on the three different concepts proposed for Nino Gallo Park. That survey is now closed.

Public Meetings

A series of 2019 public meetings were held at Burlington Elementary School to solicit public input and develop a master plan for the Nino Gallo Park. At these meetings, City employees discussed how residents envision this park and concept planning. They then presented a draft master plan and opened the room up for public comments.
