Union Reservoir Recreational Master Plan & Trail
This work is planned to implement the Union Reservoir Recreational Master Plan in phases once expansion of the reservoir is implemented, providing a multi-use trail and additional recreational activities at Union Reservoir.
Due to the unknown timeframe for expansion, with approval of the 2012 Master Plan City Council directed staff to explore options for an interim trail that would serve recreational users until the final trail and Master Plan improvements could be implemented post-reservoir expansion. However, the floods in 2013 presented a setback in trail planning, design, and construction. The City is again exploring options for an interim trail that will serve recreational users until the final trail and Master Plan improvements can be implemented.

In 2012, the City adopted the Union Reservoir Recreational Master Plan to provide a vision for existing and future recreational activities at Union Reservoir. The Master Plan was the product of a collaborative effort between City of Longmont staff, consultant staff, key stakeholders, and local residents.
