Envision Longmont
In June 2016, the Longmont City Council adopted Envision Longmont, a Multimodal and Comprehensive Plan that provides strategic direction and guidance. This plan was developed with significant community input and incorporated learnings from previous planning efforts and emerging trends.
The plan has four sections:
- Plan Framework: Includes an overview of the plan, tips on how to use the plan, and describes topics that influenced the plan. This section also describes the contents and purpose of the other sections of the plan.
- Policy Framework: Describes the six guiding principles of the plan and the specific goals and policies intended to help the community achieve our desired future.
- Growth Framework: Addresses the physical aspects of the plan, including the future land use plan and the multimodal transportation plan. This section also provides details for the focus areas identified in the plan.
- Implementation Strategies: Outlines a detailed action plan that supports the implementation of the overall plan.
There are also three appendices and a related Future Land Use and Transportation System map. that was updated in 2025.

Longmont Indicators is where you can view the City’s progress in meeting Envision Longmont and sustainability goals. Changes are measured, recorded and shared on a regular basis at these online dashboards.
