Longmont Urban Renewal Authority

Background

Longmont voters approved the formation of the Longmont Urban Renewal Authority (LURA) on January 10, 2005 (CC Resolution R-2005-67) to provide the tools to preserve and restore the quality of life in the community. LURA sets policy and provides oversight of redevelopment within the designated urban renewal areas.

There are several tools available to LURA. These include:

  • Financing and constructing needed public improvements and facilities
  • Developing comprehensive strategies to assist private developers respond to local economic opportunities and initiate local investment and job creation
  • Acquiring land for resale to a developer
  • Entering into contractual agreements
